TTG Goetting is familiar with the unique mechanical and electrical system requirements of museums and museum-like space and looks at them as opportunities for truly creative design. Keeping within a museum’s budget constraints, we strive to produce lighting systems that incorporate low UV day lighting where exhibits allow, while maintaining lighting levels appropriate to optimal showcasing and protecting sensitive artwork.

We also understand the challenges in art preservation and provide properly designed HVAC systems, tailored specifi cally to the special challenges that museums face regarding:

• Temperature: maintaining steady temperatures is critical to the preservation of museum artifacts.
• Humidity: systems that prevent extremes in moderate relative humidity prevent deterioration, mold growth and unwanted chemical reactions in museum displays and structures.
• Particulate Content: preservation of artifacts, as well as patron comfort, depends on lower levels of dust particulates. Proper filtration systems also reduce maintenance costs over time.
• Gaseous Contaminants: Air filtration and purification prevent the damage to organic materials that can be caused by oxides and other gaseous pollutants including nitrogen and sulfur dioxides, ozone, formaldehyde.
• Ventilation Rates: adequate circulation is critical to museums not only for the preservation of materials, but also the well being of visitors and museum staff. Avoiding stagnate air will reduce potential for outbreaks of mold and mildew.
